- Safety work and creation of a backup route following the collapse of the Chambon Tunnel
The closure of the Chambon Tunnel in April 2015, which represented a major road artery between Grenoble and Briançon, imposed the construction of a deviation on the left bank of the lake, to enable local traffic to pass at least partially.
Hydrokarst, specialists in difficult access work since 1977, was entrusted with the construction of this backup route. We were confronted with major technical complexities due to work on extremely vertical slopes, an imposing rocky outcrop to blast and a very short deadline: we had less than four months to prepare and build a 5 km route on the slope alongside the lake.
